Mechanical Engineer
Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Providing technical assistance, process improvement, and manufacturing support for Manufacturing, Utilities, and Maintenance.
- Managing the Pressure Vessel program including calculating and selecting relief devices, conservation vents, flame arrestors, and rupture disk, maintaining the pressure vessel database, coordinating with the appropriate state agencies for inspections and licensing, and providing input to the plant Process Safety Review Committee and other project engineers on safe implementation of engineering design criteria.
- Solving mechanical engineering problems and distinguishing between the relative merits of different plans and designs.
- Occasional civil and structural design.
- Troubleshooting and identifying root causes of mechanical problems.
- Working with Chemical Manufacturing, Utilities, and Maintenance to provide mechanical engineering support for continued production.
- Knowledge of materials of construction, heat exchangers, pumps, centrifuges, pressure relief devices, piping specifications, and other industrial equipment.
- Working in teams or independently to increase production capacity, improve mechanical integrity, provide safer operations, or reduce energy requirements.
- Applying sound process economics analysis principles to determine and document project values.
- Evaluating and specifying new mechanical equipment.
- Maintaining awareness and ties to corporate engineering practices and engineering resources to help implement projects.
- Assisting with the definition and implementation of capital projects that will result in process improvements or increased capacity.
- Managing several projects simultaneously and regularly communicating progress to stakeholders.
- Following safety and quality procedures.
Key Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have a BS in Mechanical Engineering, with a PE license preferred. Experience in an industrial manufacturing facility is preferred.
