Environmental Staff Engineer

Overview
FutureFuel Chemical Company in Batesville, Arkansas, is looking for a new member for our Environmental Engineering Team. Candidates must have a four-year technical degree, preferably in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Biological Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school, and the preferred candidate would have experience in chemical manufacturing and/or regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate would have direct experience with environmental engineering support for batch or continuous chemical production.
About The Position
The Environmental Staff Engineer works with others to provide guidance and oversite to ensure regulatory compliance and safe operations at a chemical manufacturing facility. Some individual responsibilities may include:  
 
·        Tracking and reporting on Environmental Social Governance & Sustainability metrics.
·        Working with others to reuse, recycle, and repurpose materials.
·        Providing technical support for environmental managers and staff.
·        Participating in emission control equipment performance tests.
·        Conducting reviews and developing compliance strategies for new and existing processes.
·        Working with Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment and Environmental Protection Agency personnel.
·        Developing tools to track and report environmental progress.
·        Reviewing new environmental regulation for applicability.
·        Automating production emission reporting.
·        Supporting plant-wide compliance efforts.
·        Working on special projects as needed.
Key Qualifications
  • A four-year technical degree, preferably Chemical, Environmental, or Biological Engineering.
  • An interest in and a desire to work on environmental compliance issues.
  • A working knowledge of manufacturing areas, equipment, and processes.
  • The ability to investigate and resolve environmental compliance issues.
  • An understanding of high-level mathematics and proficiency in application toward regulatory compliance.
  • Good understanding of general chemistry & organic chemistry.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • The selected applicant will work with a wide variety of people within FFCC as well as outside customers, consultants, and environmental regulators. Excellent people skills are needed.
  • A proven track record of reliability.
  • Manages several projects simultaneously and regularly communicates progress to stakeholders.
  • Follows safety and quality procedures.
