Overview
About The Position
The qualified individual will develop new analytical methods, improve existing methods, ensure the accuracy, precision, and robustness of instruments/methods, and communicate routinely with development, manufacturing, and other personnel. The expectations also include supporting the implementation of and compliance with laboratory quality systems/standards; ISO9001, BQ9000, cGMP and others. This position is located at the Batesville plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Innovate new analytical methods
- Adapt analytical methods to available equipment
- Design analytical methods and testing protocols
- Determine the precise, accuracy, and repeatability of test methods
- Qualify and validate test methods, instrumentation, and equipment
- Calibrate and maintain analytical equipment and instrumentation
- Train personnel
- Collaborate with the development and application lab groups (and potential customers) to devise necessary analytical methods and testing protocols
- Work with a multidisciplinary team to demonstrate and commercialize new processes, products and applications
- Execute projects from conception to commercialization
- Schedule and coordinate comparative testing with customer laboratories and other third-party laboratories
- Support Manufacturing with technical assistance
- Support Business Development and Sales with technical assistance
- Support customers with technical assistance
- Document work in the form of internal reports and external publications as necessary
- Regularly communicate with management regarding the progress and status of projects
- Gain the support of management to pursue new capabilities and instrumentation
Key Qualifications
- PhD in Analytical Chemistry with emphasis on separations
- At least five years of industry experience developing GC-MS, LC-MS and other chromatographic methods and associated detectors
- At least one year of experience as a chemist working in either a cGMP or 17025-accredited laboratory
- Able to adapt literature procedures to analytical methods
- Strong ability to interpret analytical data
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience as a group leader
- Highly motivated and self-directed
- Experience in microscopy and grant proposal writing is desirable
